AmberFin's Unified Quality Control Solution for Content Ingest and Transcoding Operations Makes UK debut on ATG Broadcast stand at BVE 2012
Basingstoke, UK 6th February 2012 –AmberFin (a leading developer of file-based media ingest, transcoding and quality control solutions for content owners, broadcasters, sports organizations and post-production houses) will showcase the latest developments in its iCR file-based content ingest and transcoding system on the stand of its UK channel partner ATG Broadcast, B28, at BVE 2012. The latest version of iCR integrates Unified Quality Control (UQC) across all of its content ingest and transcoding operations.
Working in a file-based environment, UQC enables easier and more effective decision making through a single timeline approach. Combining an automated process with a human touch, new levels of trust and confidence can be introduced to the file creation and distribution processes.
This ability to provide comprehensive quality control using the appropriate level of automation together with human interaction over all ingest and transcoding operations differentiates iCR from any rival system. UQC utilizes both automated and operator-controlled features for baseband and file quality control (QC) within the same user environment, leading to increased productivity and a significant reduction in the time and costs associated with re-works.
First introduced at IBC 2011, UQC represents a significant progression in the functionality of the iCR platform. It means that with AmberFin iCR, users have the potential to create a high quality file-based HD/SD master, implement appropriate levels of automated and manual quality control and provide unique file conversion to multiple formats, all within a single software environment. Highest file/media quality is assured and the QC process can be automated as required, freeing up staff to focus on other tasks.
Since its launch last September UQC has attracted interest from a broad diversity of media organizations: already it is being used by many forward thinking facilities. One such enterprise is multinational media factory, TVT. Feedback from this and other companies is contributing to the system’s evolution.

Targeted at professionals working in the broadcast and electronic media industries, the program consists of a series of weekly video shorts and monthly in-depth webinars covering a broad range of industry topics based around broadcast IT workflows.
The program has been developed and is led by Bruce Devlin, AmberFin's Chief Technology Officer and co-author of the MXF specification. Devlin brings 25 years of experience working at the leading edge of the broadcast industry, working on standards committees, designing products and developing software algorithms that help organizations create content effectively and efficiently.
Since its launch at IBC 2011, AmberFin has received many hundreds of registrations for Bruce’s Shorts, including large numbers from North America, Japan and Australia as well as from across Europe. Some organisations have requested that their entire workforce is registered to receive the training material.
